Market context

The Miami Marlins travel to Minnesota on 14 May for a regular-season MLB matchup against the Twins, with first pitch at 1:40 PM ET. This market settles based on the official final result, with provisions for postponement (market remains open) and cancellation or ties (50-50 split). The settlement window extends to 21 May, allowing for makeup games if weather or other factors delay the original fixture.

A 0% implied probability for either side is unusual in baseball markets and typically signals either insufficient liquidity, a data feed issue, or the market having just opened without initial pricing. Historically, regular-season MLB games between non-dominant teams trade with probabilities ranging from 35–65%, reflecting home-field advantage (roughly 3–4 percentage points for the visiting Marlins here) and relative roster strength. The Twins' recent performance trajectory and any roster changes should anchor baseline expectations; the Marlins' inconsistency makes them volatile in betting markets.

Traders monitoring this matchup should track starting pitcher announcements, which materially shift win probability in baseball—typically 5–10 percentage points depending on ERA and recent form. Injury reports released in the 24–48 hours before game time, particularly for key position players or bullpen arms, warrant conditional order adjustments. Weather forecasts for Minneapolis on 14 May may affect play style and injury risk. For programmatic approaches, integrating MLB's official roster and injury databases with historical pitcher performance metrics provides the most reliable input for position-sizing logic ahead of the settlement window close.

Resolution & payout

Resolution source: This market settles from the official publication at https://www.mlb.com/. A proposer submits the result to the UMA Optimistic Oracle on Polygon, the two-hour challenge window opens, and the smart contract pays out in USDC.

At resolution the UMA oracle takes over: a proposer posts the outcome with a bond, any token holder can dispute within two hours. Without dispute the result is accepted and the smart contract distributes USDC instantly.

On Kalshi (CFTC-regulated) resolution runs through their in-house clearing engine in USD. Betfair Exchange settles after match end in the account's local currency. Manifold pays no cash — only its in-platform "mana" currency.
